Three Countries in One Day

Explore Catalunya
Three Countries in One Day Spain, France and Andorra
Andorra
Mont Louis
Baga

Things to Know
The easiest way to Andorra is from Spain--if you are in Spain.
Three main languages are spoken in Andorra; English, French, Catalan.
Stomach ache in french is maux d'estomac
Headache in french is mal de tete
Andorra is duty free
The guide's recommendations for lunch are the best.

Well we had a rough start to the day. We slept in a bit and our cab driver didn't know where Explore Catalunya was located luckily we had directions and a map.
Once in the van we had a nice nap lol. Let's just say some people not yours truly but some people get car sick in Andorra and it's not pleasant sitting beside them.  The driver/guide was incredible, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. Someone throwing up in your van might be a little funny--not at the time--later--much later.
The fresh snow in France was just what we Canadians needed. The views in Andorra are spectacular. It's a very quick trip but it is worth it.

Hola Barcelona

Ok so here are some pictures from our cooking class Barcelona Cooking that was a lot of fun and informative.  We were in Barcelona, Spain with a trip planning class from school for 6 nights.  Each day was the responsibility of a group of students.  This day we did a cooking class that involved a market tour and preparing several dishes for lunch; tomato bread, veggies, paella, and of course Crema Catalana.  We also had dinner at a local restaurant that night.  All in all a great day.  Feed me and I'm happy.

You thought I'd write about the clubs lol.

London Calling

http://www.jacktheripperwalk.com/  This is so much fun--a little messed up to be going around and listening to this before bedtime so go have a pint or four after.  The guide was amazing and you get to see a little more of what you wouldn't usually.
http://www.hrp.org.uk/tower-of-london/#gs.bd7h8Iw  Not just a Tower.  So much to see and do for both sexes.  Jewels have them--instruments of torture they have you covered.
https://www.theviewfromtheshard.com/en/tickets-prices/?gclid=Cj0KEQjw88q9BRDB5qLcwLXr7_sBEiQAZsGja-Yjfx8kdYt2cj9LQG72smCFKo-rdC-sQTJ2_TXrfLUaAkgL8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds  Ok so I didn't "shard" myself but I did really enjoy the view.  The Queen was nice enough to have her birthday flyby while I was there but even without it it was worth it.
https://www.londonpass.com/london-transport/?aid=26&gclid=Cj0KEQjw88q9BRDB5qLcwLXr7_sBEiQAZsGja7OCOqWMDeMUtJ4ixBA_Gf_9LBXC-wYMXYKo6HJXeXIaAqzt8P8HAQ  So convenient and easy.  Public transportation is extremely easy here.
http://www.visitgreenwich.org.uk/  If you have time it's worth it.
http://www.manutd.com/Splash-Page.aspx   Manchester United. They are the best.  Well, here they are.
http://www.starbucks.co.uk/  Yes they are everywhere and it's great.
http://www.gatwickairport.com/  It's amazing to get around (Toronto take notes) plus with airline carriers adding it to their scheduled routes recently it's cheaper than Heathrow.
https://weather.com/en-GB/weather/today/l/UKXX0085:1:UK?cm_ven=UKPS_GGL_London_6272016_1  No one believes me but the weather is always amazing when I'm there well ok this time it rained a bit on day two and when I left it poured.
https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=uk%20currency%20to%20canadian  I was there two weeks before the vote so my exchange wasn't great.  London is worth it no matter the cost.
https://www.stpauls.co.uk/  So I finally got in to see it and it was incredible no words can describe it.
http://www.tate.org.uk/visit/tate-modern  It's FREE and there is so much to see.
Millennium Bridge Views are stunning.
Gherkin London  I had always called this the egg building lol.

Things to Know

Do not repeat not under any circumstances get tipsy and leave your new iPhone in the lou.
Do not go into a Local and cheer for the opposing team during Euro Cup no matter how tempting.
Check before heading out to know if the Queen will disrupt your planned route. This includes all Royal activities.
Try to keep up on current affairs.
Be polite at all times.
People are basically friendly everywhere introduce yourself have fun.

So I went off to London to party and give my friend Jeff (he's an Aussie) who had been working in London but had given notice a proper send off.  Of course I'd fly to Australia to party for a few days if he quits his job there--any excuse.
Getting there was suppose to be easy.  Gatwick Airport was a breeze.  Getting on a train no problem--trains not running--problem--Queen's Birthday--problem.  Finally getting there--priceless.
So the first thing we did was go to St. Paul's but the Queen was there so lunch and a pint was just as good.
We did things I hadn't done before in London--TOURIST THINGS! Day one the street outside St. Paul's watching the Beefeaters and bands leave, the Tower of London which was more fun than I though (I know shame on me) and then a Jack the Ripper walking tour.  Do not bring small children it scares the shit out of the adults. We ended Day 1 slightly tipsy ok a bit trashed after several beers and something I refuse to call a margarita and yeah I lost more like misplaced my new iPhone.  It was funny I mean shit happens and I'm probably the last person I know to lose or damage my phone so it only adds to an epic night. I also momentarily misplaced Jeff but found him quickly.
Day 2 OMG the sun rises way too early in London in May.  Not enough sleep so no hangover.  We went to the Shard and watched the airshow which was quite amazing to see that high up.  We went along the river to the London Eye and took in the sights. Off to the Tate to open my mind to some new art.  Ok I love Dali and was pleased to see that and Picasso there.  Andy Warhol was a bonus.  Off across the Millennium Bridge to try again at St. Paul's. WTF closed--but wait a glimmer of hope they are having a service so we wait and I finally get in and it's overwhelming.  Pictures do not do it justice. Off to Greenwich and we see the Cutty Sark and have some food.  I love eating out in the UK. Greenwich is lovely and very quite.  I want to spend more time there next time. So back near Jeff's in his Local we are watching the Russians play England and it ends in a draw.  I've grown up watching the Toronto Maple Leafs so I can't understand all the screaming and swearing at a tie.  Poor Rooney.  If they played in Canada they could suck and we would still love them.  No pounding back tonight.
Being a good friend and knowing my public transportation limitations Jeff accompanied me back to Gatwick.  It's all good.  Cheerio for know but I'll be back.

My Mom had always wanted to go to New York City and it was her “BIG” birthday: 65th to be exact. So I, being an amazing only child, booked us on a cruise out of New York City with stops in Florida and the Bahamas.  We also had three days/two nights before in New York City.  She was so excited.
I know my shit so we had an incredible deal: air, hotel, transfers, cruise and a hop-on hop-off sightseeing pass.  I mean we were totally set, and the hop-on hop-off was right across the street from the hotel.  Just needed a little cash for meals and maybe a show and we’re golden.
Our plane is on time land get to hotel and check in.   We head off across the street to start a tour (they offer 4 – Manhattan, Brooklyn, Harlem and a Night tour.  Of course it’s my Mom’s first time, so we hop on the Downtown Manhattan to see what she’s been waiting for.  Amazing architecture, the hustle and bustle of people, everything New York City is supposed to be.
It’s cute how excited she is.  I want to take pictures so the top level of the bus is best, since its open.  Didn’t mention it was November and cold as fuck, did I?  Cold weather? No problem! We are Canadian, we know how to layer.  Up we go!
Now, my Mom is a much better human being than me.  She of course offers me the outside seat so I can take better pictures.  The first thing I think is, “I can see my camera falling over the side of the bus.”  Of course I didn’t say anything to my Mom.  Yes, I’m probably going to hell.
Fast forward 10 minutes into our sightseeing journey.  “I dropped my camera,” she shouts.  I yell, “Stop the bus!” I jump off the bus, run as fast as I can, and lo and behold I find a couple pieces of camera and her SD card.  Back on the bus.  I tell her not to worry, I take lots of pictures, it will be OK.
Back in the hotel later that night the camera is reassembled and it does work if it’s plugged in.  Yes, I hear it’s warm in hell, but I did giggle.  My Mom adapts and forgives easier than I do.  The rest of the trip is stellar; I couldn’t complain and can’t wait to get back.
I still laugh, almost to the point of tears, every time I think of this.

All pictures are mine I don't throw my camera off moving vehicles.

I love NY

Things You Have To Do
http://altonmill.ca/ Add a little culture to your life.
http://www.ospreyvalleygolf.com/ In better weather it’s close by.

Things You Need To Know
Located in the village of Alton on John Street.  Located close to Caledon and Orangeville.
Hotel is dog friendly – please call for more information on pet’s weight and restrictions. 519-941-8111
Book the Hub well in advance for an amazing view of the waterfall.  It’s spectacular in winter.
The Millcroft Inn caters to meetings, weddings and has an on-site spa.

This year I didn’t go away for the holidays but lunch at the Millcroft was just the thing to make staying at home worth it in 2016.  A nice drive in the country and a peaceful setting.  The most amazing chocolate dessert and the most incredible view of the falls while having lunch.  If I had the cash I’d come all the time.  Best thing about this place is that it is dog friendly so next time Mo can have a sleepover.

Snowmen greet you at the door.

Things You Have to Do
http://www.cedarkitchen.com/location.html Don’t let this incredibly sucky website fool you—the food and staff are amazing.
http://www.southsimcoerailway.ca/ They have a special train for Christmas and other occasions.  They also do weddings and culinary events. The train has been featured in “Murdoch Mysteries.”
http://www.tottenhambluegrass.com/ This happens yearly and is a huge event that brings in people from all over Canada and USA.
http://www.tottenhamcommunityweek.ca/ Small towns still exist and this is also a yearly event.

Things You Need to Know
Tottenham is located on the Tottenham Road north of Highway 9.
It snows a lot in the winter.  I definitely need a friend with a snow blower.
The best place to see sunset and sunrise is on Tottenham Road in front of Rod Abrams Funeral Home.
Best place to star gaze is north on Tottenham Road to any concession.  You can actually see stars in Tottenham but for special viewings head just out of town.
Everyone knows everybody so be careful what you do and say and who you say and do it to.
Cheaters and losers make out in the Tim Horton’s parking lot.
The local chapter of the Royal Canadian Legions has dinners every Friday except long weekends.
A local Legion lady made a scarf tree in front of the Post Office in town for those who needed a scarf or wanted to donate scarfs

I left the city of Brampton five years ago to move to Tottenham (its housing is cheaper) because I wanted to live in a quiet town in a house with grass all around it. No one getting shot in my neighborhood is also an added bonus.  Well, grass is overrated and it isn’t that quiet.   Sometimes I think there is a whole new level of crazy going on here.  At least I can get a decent breakfast.  Thank all supreme beings for the Cedar Kitchen.
